Seit dem Gewinn des ANAM-Kammermusik-Wettbewerbs im ersten Jahr hat sich das Affinity Quartet als eines der führenden Streichquartette Australiens etabliert. Ihre internationalen Tourneen umfassten von der Kritik gefeierte Auftritte in Europa bei der Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale, dem Festival Les Voix Intimes Belgium, der Fondazione Cini Venice, dem Schloss Mirabell Salzburg; und in Großbritannien bei St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Southbank Centre, City Music Society und Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar. Im April 2022 war das Affinity Quartet Finalist bei der Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, London.

Das Quartett ist bekannt für innovative Programme, die die vielfältige Geschichte des Streichquartetts durchqueren, darunter australische Auftragswerke, Uraufführungen von Jack Symonds, Matt Laing und Darrin Archer (AU) sowie australische Erstaufführungen sämtlicher Streichquartette von Leos Janáček und Pavel Haas, Benjamin Britten und Sir Andrzej Panufnik. Das Affinity Quartet tritt regelmäßig für australische Serien und Festivals auf, darunter Melbourne Recital Centre, Tempo Rubato, Australian Digital Concert Hall, Kennedy Nolan, Play On Music und war Ensemble in Residence beim Shepparton Festival und der Monash University.

Das Quartett studierte in Europa und Großbritannien unter anderem bei Thomas Adès (IMS Prussia Cove), Prof. Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett), Prof. Heime Müller (Artemis Quartett), Joel Krosnick (Juilliard Quartet), John Myerscough (Doric Quartet), Isabel Charisius (Alban Berg Quartett), Oliver Wille und William Coleman (Kuss Quartett), Brodsky Quartet-Mitgliedern, Krzysztof Chorzelski (Belcea Quartet), Richard Ireland (Chilingirian Quartet), und in Melbourne mit Dr. Robin Wilson. Bezugsmusiker bringen umfangreiche Erfahrung aus früheren Ensembles wie dem Flinders Quartet und dem Momentum Ensemble sowie Haupt- und Vertragsrollen beim Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, dem Sydney Symphony Orchestra, dem Australian Chamber Orchestra, der Sydney ChamberOpera und dem Australian World Orchestra mit.

2023 beginnt das Affinity Quartet ein Studium am International Institute of Chamber Music, Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia, Madrid, bei Professor Günter Pichler, Gründer und Primarius des Alban Berg Quartetts. 

Since winning the ANAM Chamber Music Competition in their inaugural year, Affinity Quartet has established itself as one of Australia’s leading string quartets. Their international touring has included critically acclaimed performances in Europe at the Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale, Festival Les Voix Intimes Belgium, Fondazione Cini Venice, Mirabell Palace Salzburg; and in the UK at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Southbank Centre, City Music Society, and Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar. In April 2022, Affinity Quartet were finalists in the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, London.

The quartet is known for innovative programs traversing the string quartet’s diverse history, including Australian commissions, world premières by Jack Symonds, Matt Laing and Darrin Archer (AU), and Australian premières of the complete string quartets of Leos Janáček and Pavel Haas, Benjamin Britten and Sir Andrzej Panufnik. Affinity Quartet performs regularly for Australian series and festivals, including Melbourne Recital Centre, Tempo Rubato, Australian Digital Concert Hall, Kennedy Nolan, Play On Music, and has been Ensemble in Residence at Shepparton Festival and Monash University.

Affinity musicians bring considerable experience from previous ensembles including Flinders Quartet, Momentum Ensemble, as well as holding principal and contract roles with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Chamber Opera and Australian World Orchestra.

In 2023 Affinity Quartet commences studies at the International Institute of Chamber Music, Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia, Madrid, under Professor Günter Pichler, founder and primarius of Alban Berg Quartet.
